Dear Neighbors, Do you remember when residents of a neighborhood were truly connected and neighbors were willing to lend a hand to one another? Now, a group of Rector area residents hopes to bring back that same sense of community with a new program called Neighbor2Neighbor, and they would like your help.. Neighbor2Neighbor seeks to connect volunteers with needy individuals and families for such helpful services as lawn mowing, leaf raking, edging and clearing fallen branches in an effort to assist with basic yard care and cleanup and to help beautify the town. The first event was held on August 18. We had a great turn out for the event and are planning to continue the program once every 3 months. Volunteers will start working around the community at 9:00am the morning of each event, and there are plans to provide all workers with t-shirts and a sandwich lunch. Organizers are currently seeking volunteers and donations to help fund future events. If you would like to make a donation to help provide t-shirts and sandwich lunches, or if you would like to volunteer your time and talents, please contact City Hall at 870-595-3035 or Marvin Gatewood at 870-783-0220. |
