Arkansas Historic Preservation Program Team visits Rector
A team from the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, a part of the Department of Arkansas Heritage out of Little Rock, visited Rector on March 25, and began assessing the structures that comprise our downtown district.  Out of the 46 buildings considered, 30 were deemed contributing to national historic parameters, and 16 were not.  Some criteria involved in the decision making process are whether or not the structures' original facades have been covered, whether or not the original windows have been replaced or obstructed, existing structures that have been obscured or burned out, and the fact that 51% of the structures must be at least 50 years old.  The city is now working with the AHPP in what must be done to further the process of being designated as a historical district.  Please check on any updates, and thank you for your support!
