Rector Saddle Club Initiative

The Rector Saddle Club recently conducted a committee meeting on August 10th at the Community Center to discuss many improvements as well as issues concerning the arena in Rector.  Currently the saddle club is welding larger piping in the back holding areas for rodeo events.  They are making improvements to the bleachers, announcers stand, concession stand and overall maintenance of the arena grounds which include lighting issues.

One main need discussed during the meeting was the lack of help for general maintenance and help to work the Shodeo’s consistently.  The saddle club is in need of many general maintenance details but would love to have any help regarding working the Shodeo’s and help with basic cleanup.  Anyone that is interested in helping is urged to contact Jasa Hollis at Rector Realty at 595-2426 or Wes Harmon at 595-4145. We want to stress that you do not have to be a rider or even involved with horses to help at the shows or for general maintenance.  We would just like to have help from people who have a desire to improve the community and show support to the kids and adults who love the sport.

Our plans for next year include Shodeo’s each 3rd Saturday of the month. Mounted Shooting will be included into several of the Shodeo’s scheduled. We will include a potluck dinner in January to kick off the year and another great Rodeo will be scheduled labor day with some of the proceeds going to the breast cancer society of AR.  We will continue to have our annual award’s ceremony in December.
